Griha Pravesh

Teryn and I are currently 50 days away from our wedding day, which is extremely hard to believe since it feels like we were just waiting to get our planning started. I could not be more excited  for the wedding, and everything that it signifies. My mom and I had a wedding meeting with our planner a couple of weeks ago, and the order of the ceremony came up. I, of course having no clue, looked to my mom. As the discussion of the timeline went on, I began to get very excited and very emotional. One particular section really caught my attention, and I have not been able to get it off my mind!

Griha Pravesh is a very auspicious tradition where once the bride and groom become officially husband and wife, the bride kicks a vessel of rice with her right foot. This particular tradition can be done when the bride and groom enter their home together for the first time, or right after the wedding ceremony is complete. The basic point of this particular tradition is to welcome both parties into each others lives, and symbolizes the hope that you will have so much rice that it can never be kicked off.
